Steilacoom

Perched on the Puget Sound, Steilacoom offers small-town feel with a rich history.

Incorporated as a city way back in 1854, Steilacoom was the very first ‘real’ city in Washington. With a main street that still has that same ‘small-town USA’ feel to it, Steilacoom’s residents move to the area to enjoy its natural beauty and stay for its strong sense of community. Many people who live in Steilacoom feel like they’ve found a true hidden gem of the Northwest, and many places and buildings in Steilacoom are even registered historical spots!

The city is home to a good variety of homes, including properties with stunning views, older craftsman homes, and new construction in mid-level neighborhoods. Steilacoom is fortunate to have a strong real estate market, and many choose the community for its close proximity to nearby cities, especially folks who work at the nearby Joint-Base Lewis McChord. It’s a quick 10-minute drive to JBLM, 20 minutes to Tacoma, 30 minutes to Olympia and 60 minutes to Seattle.

FERRY SERVICE The ferry runs between Steilacoom, Anderson Island and Ketron Island.

VIEWS Sweeping views from Saltar's Point, Sunnyside Beach Park, and Pioneer Park are highlights of the 12 city-maintained parks
