Windermere Professional Partners Fundraising Mid-Year Update

June 22, 2020

In 2020, we committed to supporting 3 different local organizations both through community service and through monetary donations. We had many great Foundation applications, and also chose to support various other organizations through fundraising events. Due to COVID-19, we weren’t able to show up in person to participate in our annual community service day like we usually do, so instead we gave a donation in addition to the donation we’ll be doing at the end of the year.

Our real estate agents and community donated funds, and Windermere Real Estate also matched donations as part of the Neighbors in Need fundraiser, donating a total of $8,307 across 3 different organizations so far in 2020. The 3 organizations include:

Nourish Pierce County - Donated $2,769

Formerly known as FISH Food Banks of Pierce County, this award-winning organization is the largest system of food banks in the county. Their mission is to provide nutritious food and support service to those in need, and in 2019 they served almost 66,000 people (which is 7% of people in Pierce County). Their work is more important than ever as COVID-19 presents many challenges, and you can learn more about this important local organization here.

Red Barn Youth Center - Donated $2,769

The Red Barn is a youth center that provides a safe and welcoming space for Key Peninsula teens to recreate, socialize, find guidance, and develop positive relationships. During the school year, Red Barn offers free after-school programs, and youth can find homework assistance, healthy snacks, and a safe place where they can hang out with their friends. They also work to provide students with school supplies and clothing. You can learn more about Red Barn here.

The Multicultural Child And Family Hope Center (MCFHC) - Donated $2,769

This Tacoma-based nonprofit provides several different support services to children and families (click here for a complete list), and MCFHC is open 7 days a week for up to 14 hours each day. They strive to not only provide many essential services to families in need, but to do so while providing a “safe, nurturing and relaxed environment” where children feel empowered, develop an enthusiasm for learning, and more. These three organizations will additionally receive 2020 Windermere Foundation Funds in 2021.

YMCA South Tacoma - Donated $1,100

In addition the Neighbors in Need fundraiser and the Windermere Foundation funds, we host several events throughout the year. In March was our Annual Spring Bowling Day. Although the event was cancelled, ticket sales and donations were raised. WPP Bowling Day 2020 funds went to the YMCA South Tacoma. Further fundraising events, that we don't anticipate cancellations of, include a backpack drive, canned food drive and holiday party fundraiser.
