Washington State Foreclosure Mediation

During the 2011 legislative session Washington State lawmakers created the Foreclosure Mediation Program. The idea behind Foreclosure Mediation is to provide homeowners in distress foreclosure prevention counseling and a non-judicial process conducted by a neutral third party mediator. These people are there to help before homeowners get behind in their payments, but they’re also there to help come up with alternatives even if the buyer is behind in their payments.

The program is very new, and just began on July 22nd, 2011. If you are concerned you will be behind in your payments or have received a notice of a trustee sale and you want to keep your home, this program is for you.

If you think you might want to talk to someone, you can contact a FREE housing counselor by calling Washington State’s Homeownership Info Hotline at 1-877-894-4663. You can also visit their website.
