Living in the Small Community of Olalla in Kitsap County
Located in Kitsap County just between Gig Harbor and Port Orchard, Olalla is a beautiful, small community resting right on the Puget Sound. Views of the Colvos Passage and Mt. Rainier set the scene, and you'll find houses resting on large parcels, and farms and houses tucked away in the woods. It’s a retreat from the bustling business of its neighboring cities, yet just minutes away from Highway 16. There’s also an elementary school in Olalla, just off of Orchard Avenue.
According to Gig Harbor resident and REALTOR® Brenna Harrington, “It has that rural, organic gardening kind of vibe,” and residents love living along the glistening Puget Sound near tall forests. “It reminds me of what Gig Harbor used to be like before it grew,” Brenna also shared with us.
We took a look at some of the other wonderful things about Olalla, and here are a few of the community’s highlights:
Al's Grocery: This great neighborhood store serves pizza, has local craft beer on tap for filling growlers, ethanol-free gas for boats and is right on the water with a deck.
Banner Forest Park: This 635-acre forest open to the public for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking.
Bandix Dog Park: A popular spot for pooches!
Olalla Valley Vineyard & Winery: Featuring 8 acres of grapevines and berries, this family-owned and operated business is worth checking out. Lovely views and wine tastings make for a relaxing afternoon.
Fun Fact: Every year, there is a Bluegrass Festival, and a Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day!
