There has been a lot of buzz about the housing market in Pierce County heating up around the office lately. With the inventory of available homes slowly beginning to shrink and low interest rates and prices tempting buyers, the competition for quality homes that are priced right seems to be fierce. “I showed five houses on Friday, and nine on Saturday,” says Joyce Shipley. “Of those, two of the five had multiple offers by the end of the day on Friday and two of the nine were signed around by Saturday.”

This signals to buyers that they need to be ready to go when they are looking for houses, says Joyce. “The message is have your financing in place and be ready, because if it’s your house, chances are someone else is looking for the same house.’ Speaking to a lender before you begin visiting open houses or looking at homes with your Realtor is ideal. Find out how much you’re qualified for, so when you find the house you’re in the position to confidently make the offer.
