“Empowering Voices” is REALTOR® Melissa Manibusan’s mantra, she believes in the best attitude is your trusted GPS as you navigate the home buying and selling process. GPS = “Guidance, Preparation, Strategy,” and Melissa strives to embody all that this acronym represents!
Melissa brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her real estate career. As a Licensed Insurance Agent with an Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation (AAI), she understands the importance of protecting her clients’ business against potential financial risk. With 15 years as a passionate and experienced professional in the insurance industry specializing in handling portfolios in Commercial Construction and Senior Living, Melissa understands how to break down the technical aspects of contracts and guide clients in providing insurance solutions to protect their business. Melissa built her insurance career at two of the most reputable firms in Tacoma, including Brown & Brown and Propel Insurance.
In addition to Melissa’s expertise in the insurance industry, she also draws upon her rich education to better serve her clients. In 2017, Melissa returned to school as a First-Generation Graduate and obtained her Paralegal degree from Tacoma Community College. This experience ignited her interest in the law, so she advanced her education at the University of Washington (Tacoma) and was the first Virtual Graduating Class in 2020, achieving her Bachelor of Arts degree (which included a major in Law & Policy and a minor in Human Rights).
Melissa’s academic experience provided her with invaluable internship opportunities with the City of Tacoma and Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel. She understands the barriers that can divide people and how to cultivate a connection with the power of words. Her final capstones focused on homelessness and affordable housing, which infused her passion for housing and finding tools to empower others to action. Melissa had the unique opportunity to engage firsthand with Tacoma’s city government, including the mayor, city manager, city council members, and the community. For Melissa, education is not just about how much you can achieve, but how you can apply what you have learned to everyday life, and she loves connecting what she learns to how she chooses to live.
Melissa grew up in Tacoma and Hawaii, so she understands what it takes to find your roots and a place to call home. She loves and appreciates the beauty of nature and enjoys exploring with family and friends! While Melissa’s focus is on supporting and elevating other people’s needs, she also values taking the time to refuel her mind, body, and spirit to help her balance her life personally and professionally.
Q: What can clients expect when working with you? How do you typically communicate with them?
A: Ohana means family, and my mission is to represent you as I would my own family. I strive to embrace the Yin and Yang of communication, which includes listening and assertion, both of which are complementary and interdependent parts of relationships. By listening and learning, I can understand what my clients want, and then I can apply my industry knowledge and connections to help them execute their goals!
Q: Why are you excited to join Windermere Professional Partners?
A: Because of the vibe and energy, I got from my first few interactions with people. I have learned from my professional and academic experiences that synergy is created when you surround yourself with others who inspire you.
