Narrows Marina

  • Located at 9007 S. 19th St. #100 Tacoma, WA 98466
  • Hours: 8:30am-4:00pm Tuesday-Saturday (Moorage Office); 8:30am-7:00pm (Bait & Tackle Store Fuel Dock)

When it comes to local marinas, Cyrus Bonnet knows that there’s no beating the Narrows Marina. Here, “you can rent an overnight slip to tie up to which allows you to launch your boat there as well (one of the last places to have one in the narrows strait aside from Steilacoom),” Bonnet shares. “They [also] have a restaurant (Boathouse 19), a shop for gear snacks, tackle, gas, etc., a brewery, and a full marina with moorage, services and repair shop.” It’s everything you could need, all in one convenient location!

Kelli Jo Hjalseth and Sharon Benson recommend Lakebay, a top destination for boating and fun! “Lakebay Marina is a fabulous stop for the afternoon or overnight,” Kelli Jo shares. “You can sample from their dockside burger menu and grab a craft brew or a cocktail. On the weekends they have live music on the dock. Check the website for events.”

“A 2nd vote for Lakebay Marina,” says Sharon. “Launch your boat and stay for lunch or enjoy the beach at Penrose State Park! But Lakebay is not only for boaters… they have camping for tents and RVs… and plenty of parking for those who drive over for the music, restaurant and events!”

Take a look at the recent happenings at Lakebay here and, as Kelli Jo suggests, prepare to “kick up your heels and stay awhile!”

Thea Foss Waterway

If you’re searching for a place where you can dock for free and enjoy some time on land, consider stopping along the Thea Foss Waterway, as suggested by Cyrus and Kelli Jo. “Docking anywhere along the Thea Foss can be a dining and sipping adventure,” says Kelli Jo. “Try Johnny's Dock for happy hour, the new Casco Antiguo or Rock the Dock. No charge to tie up and hang out and watch the world go by.”
